Jeremy Allen White Takes Best Actor in a Comedy Series for the Second Consecutive Year: "My Heart Is Racing Out of My Chest"

Jeremy Allen White has clinched the Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal in "The Bear" for the second consecutive year at the 2024 ceremony.

 Ali   In his acceptance speech, White expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much. My heart is racing right out of my chest. I’m incredibly thankful to the Academy and my fellow nominees. It’s an honor to be among such esteemed company.”

This year, White was up against some formidable competitors, including Matt Berry from "What We Do in the Shadows," Larry David from "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Steve Martin and Martin Short from "Only Murders in the Building," and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai from "Reservation Dogs."

Ali   White expressed his deep gratitude to Christopher Storer, the creator of The Bear, for selecting him to star in the acclaimed FX series. He described himself as incredibly fortunate and then turned his thanks toward his co-stars.

“I’m so grateful to my amazing cast,” White said. “I love you all endlessly. Working with you is a joy, and I hope we’ll stay in each other’s lives forever. This show has truly transformed my life. It has reinforced my belief that change is possible if you reach out for it. You are never really alone.”

Ali  Ebon Moss-Bachrach also earned an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Bear.

When Christopher Storer won Best Director for a Comedy Series, The Bear set a new record for the most Emmy wins in a single season for a comedy, securing 11 awards—surpassing its previous record of 10 wins from the prior year.

The 2024 Emmys marked the second ceremony of the year, following the postponement of the 2023 Emmys due to last year’s dual writers and actors strikes.

Ali evening featured presenters like Kristen Wiig, Viola Davis, Lily Gladstone, Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Matt Bomer, Colin Farrell, Mindy Kaling, Jimmy Kimmel, Greta Lee, John Leguizamo, George Lopez, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Jean Smart.

The leading contenders this year were FX’s Shogun with 25 nominations, The Bear with 23 (a record for a comedy series), Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building with 21, HBO/Max’s True Detective: Night Country with 19, and Netflix’s The Crown with 18.

 Ali      Netflix topped the list of nominees with 107, followed by FX with 93, HBO with 91, and Apple TV+ with 72. Disney, which includes projects from FX, ABC, Hulu, and Disney+, achieved a record-breaking 183 Emmy nominations this year.
